HOW TO
GET IN NEPAL
There are
twelve major international airlines touching down at Kathmandu, the national
capital of Nepal. It has direct flights from London, Paris, Frankfurt,
Dubai, Doha, Moscow, Karachi, Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Varanasi, Dhaka,
Bangkok, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Vienna, Osaka and Shanghai. For getting
around the country, there is an excellent domestic air network and
helicopter charter services as well as deluxe tourist coaches. Your travel
partner/colleagues in Nepal will be provided those services wherever you
want to go.
SEASONS
The trekking in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal
is possible at any times of the year depending on where visitors are going .
The most popular seasons for the high altitude are spring (February - May )
and Autumn (Sep. to November ). Winter (December - January) is very cold
above 4000 m. and high mountain passes may be snowbound. But it is best
season for trekking at lower (below 4000 m) altitude. During the monsoon
season (June - August), you can trek in the rain-shadow areas north of the
Himalaya like Mustang. Upper Mustang and Dolpo. These places are out of
reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains and unaffected by the
monsoon.
EQUIPMENT
The company will provide all the necessary
equipment such as Sleeping bags, foam mattresses, tents down jackets and
kitchen utensils on camping treks and only sleeping bags will be provided on
tea house treks. Beside this items, all the necessary personal belonging
have to bring self.
FOOD & WATER
a.
Camping Trek:- Our trek staff has
been trained to take maximum care with hygiene , water is properly boiled
before preparing tea or coffee. Food on trek is wholesome and freshly
prepared for each meal. Only rarely do we supplement it with canned food
which is used more on longer treks. Also we would like to advise not to
drink water from tea shop or streams on the way. Boiled water will supply by
our camp staff who refill water bottles during breakfast and dinner times.
b.
Tea house
Trek:- All the meal will be provided at lodge. Our trained trek
guide to take maximum care with hygiene, Hot water will be served on
request. Mineral water is available on the way or lodges.
MONEY AND VALUABLES
Always carry Nepalese rupees in small bills on
trek and the amount to be carried depend on the area and duration o the
trek. For your guideline , kindly do contact our trek sardar or guide before
departure to trek. Money is required only for cold and hard drinks and
souvenirs along the way. Extra money and valuable should be kept in a safe
deposit box at hotel in Kathmandu.
PRE - CAUTIONS
Even on an easy trek one will require to walk
for about 4 to 5 hours daily on an uneven terrain. Therefore one must use to
regular exercise. The main precaution to be taken while trekking is not to
go up too high too fast. The body should be given plenty of time to
acclimatize . Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) refers to the effects of the
thin air at high altitudes which can be very dangerous and may even result
in death. If you get initial symptoms like nausea, dizziness, swelling in
the face and breathlessness, must be informed our trek Sardar / Guide and
descend to a lower elevation immediately. Our professional trek guide will
seek for medical help or rescue services as per conditions.
TREK PERMITS
All visitors require a trekking permit to visit
Nepal's interior some regions not connected by major roads. Trekking permits
are available from the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu. Which will
secure after arrival by Sansui Trek & Expeditions (P) Ltd. For issuing the
trek permission , two P.P. size photograph and passport, are required. If
those tourists who wants to trek more than one region, separate trekking
permits are necessary for each region.
NATIONAL PARK ENTRY FEE
All visitors need to pay a park entry fee of Rs.
650 to enter a National Park or Wildlife Reserve. The fee is payable at the
park entrance. Trekkers going to the Annapurna Region have to pay a fee of
Rs. 1000 up to 31 Dec. 2000 and there after (January 2001 ) Rs. 2000 per
person is payable at the Information and Entry Fee Collection Counter of
Annapurna conservation Area Project (ACAP), Sanchaya Kosh Building ,Thamel
Kathmandu, Nepal.
VISA
1.Tourist Visa

Visa can be obtained from the following duration from Royal Nepalese
Embassies or Consulates or at the entry points in Nepal.

January to 31st December
Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. in winter
Tourist Visa Extension: A tourist
visa can be extended from the Department and Pokhara Immigration Office for
a total of 120 days, an additional 30 days visa may be granted on reasonable
grounds from the department. Over the course of a visa year, a tourist can
not stay in Nepal more than cumulative 150 days.
Fee Exemption: Children below 10
years. Extension fee : US$ 50 for 30 days. Application
Forms: All kinds of application forms related to visa are available
in the Department and in the Immigration Office free of cost
Transit Visa:
A transit visa can be obtained from the Airport Immigration Office for a
period of 48 hours on the presentation of confirmed air ticket.
